Activities for Aug. 29th

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It has come to my attention that we need to spend some time practicing sending professional emails. Before you start writing for our newspaper and trying to communicate with sources via the Internet, we have to understand that every email should read like a formal letter even though it is been sent electronically.

Before you get started, keep in mind there is no music playing or web searching that does not pertain to these assignments.

Today you will send an appropriate email!
1. Do Now: Take this survey!

2. Watch this video I created just for you.

3. Email me a FORMAL letter, explaining what you think Journalism is and what you think this class is going to be like. Remember to write in complete sentences with correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar.

4.
Review the transcripts from President Obama's speech during yesterday's 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington D.C.  Leave comments here to share with your classmates, telling what you think about the event, the speech, or anything else related to the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech.

5. Continue with your next typing lesson "Bottom Row" keys on the TypingWeb.com, website. Your username should be your last name and the first 3 digits of your student ID#. The password is: collins.
Raise your hand and wait to be acknowledged if you have any questions.

  2. The event was a wonderful way to express how Dr King felt and tell more about the beliefs he had that he wasn't able to say because of his passing. The speech was a touching speech and meant a lot the public as they watch a black president express himself and tell how he feels about Dr King and the things he did and the obstacles he face as he try his best to make te world equal and become united as one and not black and whites.
