3) Read the article and save the link to the article in your article.
4) Make a list (on paper or on the computer) of the similarities and differences between the two articles.
5) Make revisions to your article that will improve it.

Fri. Nov. 8th, 2013

Yesterday you all worked really hard on your articles and I am proud of you.
I apologize that I could not be with you today. I will see you on at Report Card Pick-Up, shorty!

Here is today's agenda in my absence.
  1. To complete your Do Now, click here to complete the survey on expectations.
  2. Next login to Schoology and locate the Editing Evaluation in the Test/Quiz section. It looks like a test but it is not. Just use these questions to evaluate your article draft and make changes.
  3. Make changes to your current article on Google Docs based on that evaluation.
  4. Share your article with your classmate via email so they can edit for the same criteria.
  5. Revise your article based on what they recommended.
  6. Email me your revised draft by Fri. Nov. 8th, 2013 at 11:59PM CST. Remember my email address is restaino.edu@gmail.com
Resource: If you get stuck there is a handout at each table section on Quotations. You may use it but share it and leave it there at the end of class.

Expectations:
Raise your hand.
Stay seated. (Sign in)
Respect time, equipment, and people.
Stay on task, always.
No interviews outside the classroom.
You are allowed to play headphones low.

Consequences: If you cannot behave you will take the test at the end of the chapter for a grade. The sub has the questions at my desk. He/she will give them to you if you are unable to work independently.

Remember Monday, November 11th, all day,  there will be Open Houses at each of the Chicago Community College campuses. Seniors are able to earn Service Learning Hours if they attend.
Talk to Mr. Dudley and click here for more information.

Making a "Brilliant" Video

As we continue our introduction to videography, watch this video and identify the 5 things you need to make a "brilliant video." View the video above.

Do Now: Please sign in to leave comments about the video. Use standard English, proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation for full credit.

Read this Math problem that I am having and solve it for me.
Email me your responses at restaino.edu@gmail.com

Today we are selling concessions at the movie activity.
We have 32 cans of Sprite that cost 9.49 for the case
a 30 pack of Gatorade that cost 12.99
48 bags of popcorn that cost 17.98 for the box
24 cracker jack boxes that cost 5.99 for the box
and 40 assorted cookie bags that cost 10.99 for the box

How much should I sell each item for to make the most profit and still have people wanted to buy?
Example, I can make a lot of money if I sell the Sprite for $2 a can, but people won't by it, right?

How much money will I make if I sell everything? [Hint: subtract what I spent from what I earned to determine the profit]

Thurs. Oct. 3rd, 2013: Newsroom "Morning Meeting"

No matter what time of day we meet, real reporters get together at the start of the day to have "Morning Meeting." At this gathering they share stories ideas and pick assignments to cover either for the day or the week (depending on the publication). Editors can give assignments or reporters can pick.

Before we get started, click to complete this Anticipation Guide about what is newsworthy. Remember with Anticipation Guides it's what you think, don't worry about being right or wrong.

After that we will continue with Step 5 of yesterday's assignment, which was sharing/presenting our news pieces. Maybe you can explain what makes those stories newsworthy!
